The Litugical Year and it's parts
The ecclesiastical year begins on the first Sunday of Advent and ends on the Saturday following the last Sunday after Pentecost. It is composed of seasons or liturgical times called Proper of Time. Its purpose is to show us Our Lord within the traditional framework of the great mysteries of our religion. Simultaneously with this cycle, another develops which is secondary: it is called Cycle Sanctoral or Proper of Saints because it consists of all the feasts of the holy souls whom God associated with Jesus in the work of Redemption. The Cycle Sanctoral generally comprises fixed-date feasts, while the Cycle Temporal, due to the mobility of the Easter celebration, is mostly composed of variable-date feasts.
